The Same House Announces New Beloved Benefit Beneficiaries Focused On Mental Health

ATLANTA (July 19, 2023) – The Same House today announced three new Beneficiaries that focus on mental health – CHRIS180, Hillside Atlanta and Silence the Shame – for its Beloved Benefit event featuring legendary entertainer, John Legend, August 24, 2023, at the Georgia World Congress Center.

“The COVID-19 pandemic shined a spotlight on the increasing number of mental health issues that are affecting so many people in Atlanta, Georgia and the country,” said The Same House CEO Rodney Bullard. “We wanted to make sure that some of the funds raised by The Beloved Benefit are available to these three outstanding organizations to help them in furthering their important outreach in the community to those in need.”

CHRIS180 has served children and youth with behavioral and emotional challenges who were not thriving in foster homes and could benefit from more specialized care. Hillside Atlanta provides residential and community mental health services to children and families. Silence the Shame is dedicated to eliminating mental health stigma, reducing health disparities and the rates of suicide among vulnerable populations.

“We are so pleased that The Same House is investing part of the proceeds from this year’s Beloved Benefit to address mental health and well-being,” said Fay Twersky, president, Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and one of the 2023 co-chairs of the Beloved Benefit. Arthur Blank joined Dan Cathy as a Founder of Beloved in 2019 and serves as a Visionary alongside Dan for 2023. Earlier this year, the Blank Foundation announced $5 million in grants to a wide range of organizations to improve mental health and well-being.

Other 2023 Beloved Benefit Beneficiaries include Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, First Step Staffing, Urban League of Greater Atlanta and Westside Future Fund. Since its founding in 2019, this one-of-a-kind experience has raised more than $12 million for a wide range of Atlanta nonprofit organizations focused on addressing community priorities.

The Beloved Benefit is based on the idea of the Beloved Community amplified by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and born out of respect for inclusivity and collaboration of all Atlantans. The event brings together business leaders, nonprofits and community members to not only learn about each other but also build a foundation for future work together.

Since its inception, funds raised from Beloved Benefit have been used to serve more than 80,000 individuals, nearly half of whom are under the age of 24. A number of well-known musical artists have performed at the event including Usher and Maroon 5.

Earlier this year, organizers of the Beloved Benefit announced a new organization, The Same House, that will include the annual experience as well as a number of new initiatives. During the 2019 Beloved Benefit, the late Congressman John Lewis told the audience, “we all live in the same house,” inspiring the organization’s name.
