Welcome to A Safe Space Curated for Parents & Caregivers.
The Silence the Shame Parent Advisory Council (PAC) empowers parents and guardians as advocates for youth behavioral health awareness and support in Georgia. The PAC provides a parent-driven platform to support and advocate for youth behavioral health initiatives in partnership with Silence the Shame.
We welcome honest, imperfect stories from parents. To keep things moving and make space for many voices, please follow these guidelines:
- Recorded Story Submissions (Audio or Written)
- Length
- Audio stories: Aim for 90–120 seconds (about 1.5–2 minutes).
- Written stories: Aim for 150–250 words (about ½ page).
- Quality & Content
- Speak from your own experience. Tell your story from an “I” perspective.
- Focus on one moment. Choose one situation, decision, or turning point.
- Protect privacy. No full names of children, schools, or specific locations.
- Keep it respectful and non‑graphic. No hate speech, slurs, or graphic details.
- Simple audio is fine. Record in a quiet space with your phone 6–8 inches from your mouth.
- We care more about honesty and heart than being “perfect.”
Behavior and mental health challenges can affect how children learn, feel, and connect at school. Georgia parents do not have to navigate this alone.
Join us for a free, 60‑minute virtual training designed for parents and caregivers of children ages 0–18 in Georgia. You will learn how to recognize early signs of behavioral health concerns, how life circumstances (such as housing, stress, and access to care) can affect behavior, and how to advocate for support in child care, preschool, and K–12 schools.
